Different kind of day. Worked from home this morning. Nice not to spend 3 hours in the car for a change. Dentist appointment and now onto Andie’s pre-op.
I’m wiped, and yet feel like I accomplished close to nothing today.
Happy mothers day moms!
I hope we see the sun at some point today. Preferably during the Pumas home opener. Kids are still in bed, worn out from their trip. I am going to have to poke them a bit so we can get going on our day.
Haven’t heard from Andie in 5 days. When they hit civilization this afternoon this is what I got 🙂
Looks like something I would post. So funny!
Mr. Shauger phoned this afternoon to let us know that they were on the boat headed to Long Beach. Yesterday was a full day of kayaking and snorkeling; they got to see a shipwreck, lots of sea life and Mr. Shauger encounter a 10ft. Blue Shark. The students did a Plankton lab and had some free time for swimming and relaxing. Our cellular phone connection was pretty broken, so details were a little difficult to glean from the conversation.
Today the boat takes them to Long Beach and they will relax on the sandy beach until heading to the airport. Everyone is doing well, a few sunburns, a sick stomach from yesterdays hike to the top of Catalina, one broken toe on Mr. Shauger’s foot, but all in all the report was very good
One more get-up. Tired this week. Shouldn’t be, since only Abbs is home, and I haven’t had much sign-work to do. I think it must still be recovery from the construction labor with Chuck Saturday. I did pound several nails into the new steps, after all. Being the “fatty” for Chuck when he was cutting stringers for the steps may be part of it. I almost had to put down my coffee cup!
As usual, fighting traffic on the way home. Maybe a nap would help.
This just in from SWCS
Thanks Shannon.
Mr. Shauger phoned this morning from Catalina Island: The camp has been keeping our students very busy; in the last couple of days they have been going on day and night hikes, snorkeling, kayaking, and tide pooling. They have dissected a squid and Mackerel thus far. Today will take them on a hike to the top of Catalina Island, apprx. 1400ft, and tonight they will be dissecting a shark. The weather has been 80 – 90 degrees.
Mr. Shauger said that everyone is having a really good time, getting along well, and experiencing and taking in many wonderful memories! We will hear from them again on Friday morning.
Ridiculous. I have been faxing (yes, I know, fax is dead. Apparently CitiBank didn’t get the memo) crap for days. One more justification letter for something that has to do with a previous residence and/or owner…and I’m suing the last 3 title companies we used! This is crap! What the Hell do we pay title insurance for!!?
Hmmm…maybe I don’t need another cup of coffee this morning…
No news from Cali’ yesterday. I’m still convinced this is a good thing.
Weather this morning is awesome! No wind or rain. 43 degrees @6am. Supposed to make it to 65 today. Sun should be hitting my window here in a few minutes.
Dear Parents, the news reported yesterday that there was a fire on Catalina Island, but I wanted to reassure you that we have heard from our staff and the fire has not affected our students or the camp at all. According to staff on the island, the fire was on the opposite side of the island where they are located.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A small brush fire broke out on Catalina Island on Monday afternoon, threatening a few buildings.
Smoke from the blaze could be seen from the Orange County coast.
The fire was reported at 2:46 p.m. in the area behind the Catalina Yacht Club. Forty acres of brush were destroyed.
Officials said the blaze started in a sparsely populated area of the island.
The fire was 30 percent contained late Monday, and firefighters were working through the night to tamp out hotspots.
No structures have been damaged and no injuries were reported.
